The retired Kern County Sheriff’s deputy killed in crash in Oxnard has been identified as 54-year-old Carlos Ramirez.
Sgt. Brian Woolley with the Oxnard Police Department says Ramirez was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck at an intersection near the 101 freeway before 1 p.m. Wednesday.
“They did discover that two vehicles collided – it was a broadside collision,” he said. “Tragically, the male passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene.”
The driver of Ramirez’s vehicle, 47-year-old Sven Ericsson of Bakersfield, received minor injuries. The person in the other vehicle was also not seriously hurt, Woolley said.
Ramirez had retired as a full-time sheriff’s deputy in 2012.
