Hikers Safe After Being Stranded

A group of hikers are home safe, including a woman who had to be rescued by helicopter, after they were stranded north of Tehachapi and south of Lake Isabella.

Kern County Sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt says the group entered the area near Caliente Bodfish Road on Sunday.

“It appears that the three hikers were hiking in the area some time between late afternoon and early evening and became stranded because of the rains – the flooding,” he said.

Rescuers got the call before 5:30 a.m. Monday after the group realized their vehicle had been washed away by rushing water.
