Fountain Bids Scrapped After All Came In Over Budget

The Bakersfield City Council has rejected all bids for the replacement of the Centennial Plaza fountain in front of Rabobank Arena, after the lowest construction proposal came back at $648,000.

The city was expecting to spend about $235,000 on the rebuild, according to councilman Terry Maxwell.

Staff will try to shave costs by tweaking the blueprints.
