The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that a man found dead at East Curnow Road near Cottonwood Road in south Bakersfield was killed by lightning.

62-year-old Stephen Ermigarat was found by first responders under a tree before 7 p.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
