A mother, a father, their four-year-old daughter and another man are safe after getting stuck on a rock in the Kern River near the Frandy Campground in Kernville.

Kern County Fire says rescuers were called before 2 p.m. Thursday. A human chain linking the boulder with land allowed the rescue to be competed in about 13 minutes.
