A quick-moving grass fire that came within 20 feet of apartment buildings in Golden Hills is being blamed on three children who were playing with matches.

Kern County firefighters were called to Golden Star and Golden Hills boulevards before 1 p.m. Friday. The kids and their parents have been referred to a fire education program.
