Representatives with the Bakersfield Water Resources Department are mailing letters to the district’s 100 biggest water users, urging them to find additional ways to conserve after the city narrowly missed its 36 percent conservation target in June.
Art Chianello, Bakersfield’s water resources manager, said the city of Bakersfield, Cal State-Bakersfield, the Kern High School District and Nestle topped the list, which uses 2014 numbers.
“A lot of that data was water usage prior to people aggressive cutting back,” he said.
City conservation was at 34 percent in June. Chianello says he’s confidant the city can hit the state-mandated target in July.
