Local News Anchor Arrested on Suspicion of Spousal Battery

KBAK-TV news anchor Kurt Rivera has been arrested on suspicion of spousal battery and false imprisonment after an apparent fight with his girlfriend at their east Bakersfield home, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt said deputies responded to an alarm call from 36-year-old Mindy Morrow on Loma Alta, south of College Avenue, after 10 p.m. Sunday.

“Rivera had damaged the keypad to prevent Morrow from calling law enforcement for assistance, and had refused to allow her to leave the home,” he said.

Both were jailed after suffering minor injuries, Pruitt said.

KBAK-TV says it’s dealing with the matter internally and has chosen to not comment.
