Man Shot Dead in Cabin

Kern County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the killing of a man in a rural cabin 20 miles west of Highway 14 and Jawbone Canyon Road, and say it may be connected to an earlier kidnapping.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt says the victim was found early Friday, triggering a SWAT call-out that morning.

“SWAT members were able to enter the cabin and confirm the victim was the victim of a gunshot,” he said.

A squatter, who still hasn’t been captured, held three people at gunpoint for about 90 minutes Tuesday near Twin Oaks. Pruitt says the man is between 30 and 35 years old, 5-foot-8, has long brown hair and blue eyes, and has a dirty appearance.
