Searchers Still Looking For Mountain Killer [PHOTO]

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office says they’re holding focus on a five-mile area in Weldon, looking for a man who injured two SWAT deputies in a shootout, killed a man in a Jawbone Canyon cabin and held three people at gunpoint in Twin Oaks last week.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt says it’s clear the murder suspect is familiar with the area.

“It’s apparent, at this point, that he has the ability to survive, at least for several days, in this environment,” he said. “It’s rugged terrain and rural.”

At least a dozen agencies are looking for the man, who is considered armed and very dangerous.

The search entered its fifth day on Tuesday.
