The Bakersfield Police Department says five people are jailed after the pursuit of a grand theft auto suspect led to a drug bust in Oildale.

Sgt. Joe Grubbs says a detective, who was on his way to work, followed 28-year-old Christopher Pacheco’s stolen truck to a home on El Tejon Avenue before 7 a.m. Thursday.

“They located two additional two additional grand theft auto vehicles, a motorcycle and an ATV, and also 40 pounds of illegal fireworks and a marijuana grow,” he said.

Grubbs says radio chatter about the GTA led the detective to Pacheco that morning.
