NAACP President Arrested for Spousal Abuse

The chapter president of the NAACP in Bakersfield is free on bail after being arrested by police on suspicion of spousal abuse.

Sgt. Joe Grubbs says officers arrived at the organization’s Easton Drive offices before 7:30 p.m. Sunday and found the injured wife of 27-year-old Patrick Jackson.

“Somebody made a call that there was a physical confrontation taking place,” he said.

Grubbs would not comment on the severity of the woman’s injuries.

Calls left for Jackson on Monday afternoon were not returned.
