Artisan Square Given Green Light By Council

The Bakersfield City Council voted to deny an appeal against the site plan for Artisan Square, allowing developers to construct the sprawling retail center at Brimhall and Allen roads.

Community Development Director Douglas McIssac says the 125,000 sq. ft. complex will provide needed amenities for the upscale neighborhood.

The complex will include a 41,000 sq. ft. grocery store, a 20,000 sq. ft. fitness center, a tire store, a bank, and two fast food restaurants, Community Development Director Douglas McIssac said Wednesday night.

Those against the project in the upscale neighborhood voiced concerns about traffic noise, safety, and a possible reduction in property values.
