Farmers and ranchers in Kern County produced crops valued at over $7.5 billion last year, which is up about 12 percent from 2013.

Agricultural Commissioner Ruben Arroyo says grapes, almonds, milk, citrus and cattle ranching were the biggest money-makers during the record harvest.

“The first four represent almost $4 billion of the current product – if you count the top five, it’s 66 percent of the value,” he said.

Arroyo says 2013’s crop value settled at around $6.7 billion.
