Plunging stocks in China and weaker-than-expected earnings from Walmart sank Wall Street on Tuesday.

The Dow lost 34 points, the Nasdaq gave up 32 points and the S&P 500 dropped six points. American crude gained 75 cents to $42.62 a barrel.
