Effort Launched to Halt Meth Use in Oildale

The Oildale Leadership Alliance is beginning to develop a plan to curb the use methamphetamine in the suburb north of Bakersfield.

Cher Pannell is the president of the organization and says the drug is causing major issues in Oildale, and it’s not just a problem of abuse.

“Los Angeles used to be the No. 1 entry for methamphetamine coming from Mexico – Bakersfield and Oildale is now the No. 1 that distributes to the rest of the nation,” she said.

The group is partnering with the Kern Stop Meth Now Coalition, and will hold a town hall meeting Oct. 27 to discuss the best way that Oildale wants to stop drug and alcohol abuse.
