The coroner’s office says the man who died after crashing his sedan into flat bed truck on Kimberlina Road west of Jumper Avenue in Wasco is 47-year-old Steven Ojeda of Paso Robles.

CHP officer Vaughn Cain says the accident happened before 8 a.m. Wednesday, after blowing dust forced the driver of the truck to slow down.

“At that point, we think the driver sustained fatal injuries,” he said. “The flat-bed truck was able to pull off onto the right shoulder, and the silver sedan was still partially in the roadway.”

Cain says Ojeda died at the scene.

Ojeda worked at the nearby Wasco State Prison as an associate warden.
