Kern County Fire Department’s Haz Mat Team was called out to a solar construction site on Twissleman Road in Lost Hills for a possible pesticide contamination of its employees. Sixty employees were treated, thirty-three went through a decontamination treatment, two employees were taken to San Joaquin Community Hospital with minor injuries.
Hall Ambulance spokesman Mark Corum says they initially were told there multiple people complaining of nausea and nose bleeds and were exposed to the chemicals.
Kern County fire Department Captain Cary Wright says there was no crop dusting scheduled in the area, but a farm four and half miles away did use a ground spraying insecticide earlier, the cause is under investigation.
