Sixteen World War II veterans are boarding Honor Flight Kern County and headed to Washington D.C. to visit the WWII National Memorial Monument. Wednesday is the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in Japan. Known as V-J Day, the formal surrender of Japan took place on the U.S.S. Missouri in Tokoyo Bay.
Honor Flight Executive directer Lili Marsh says the veterans who have made previous flights have said it changes their lives. This will be the 18th Honor Flight Kern County which has helped more than 800 local veterans travel to see their monuments in Washington D.C.
