Lightening started a fire just before noon in the Tehachapi mountains, south of Highline road in the Mountain Meadows area.
150 firefighters are attacking the flames from the ground and air. The air assault was halted for about 30 minutes when a drone entered the air space. 50 acres has burned and a 30% containment has been achieved by members of the Kern County Fire Department, Cal Fire, and the Bureau of Land Management.
Voluntary evacuations were placed for the Mountain Meadows, Water Canyon and West Ranch communities. No structures have been threatened.
