BIG TURNOUT FOR BC PRESIDENT

Dozens of students were among the people who showed up at meeting of the Kern Community College District to support Bakersfield College President Sonya Christian, who’s been under fire for her unilateral actions on the school’s behalf and for filing late reports.BC Student Government President Clayton Fowler was upset that a split board put Christian’s contract on hold, saying they should be voting in the best interest of students. Bakersfield Mayor Harvey Hall was one of several community leaders supporting Christian on Thursday, and warned district voters would have something to say about the flap. District Chancellor Sandra Serrano sent a letter to the media this week, questioning Christian’s loyalty when she released her confidential performance review to friends. Trustees will revisit the contract issue October 8th.
