SAFETY WORRIES OVER CHARTER SCHOOL

A group called Residents for a Better Delano says it’s is worried about a new Charter School being built in their neighborhood. Spokeswoman Aloha Francisco says they’ve been told that public input was only required for homes within 300 feet of the school, but claims the city has not responded to their questions about traffic, pollution and safety. Residents rallied Thursday at Veneto Park, across from where the Wonderful College Prep Academy is being built. It will host 16-hundred students plus staff when it opens this fall. Delano City Manager Maribel Reyna was out of the office when we called for comment.
