A Kernville house went up in flames Thursday afternoon because of an electrical malfunction.The owner told firefighters she was using a cooking appliance when she heard a popping noise at the breaker. Downed power lines were found in the back yard but the fire was contained within an hour. The house is considered a total loss.

Two of the owner’s five dogs were rescued from the blaze while the other three remain missing.
