Applications for the Kern County Grand Jury will be accepted now through April 1, 2016. The Grand Jury is made up of 19 citizens, and all applicants are interviewed before nomination by county Superior Court judges.

Juror responsibilities include making sure county and city governments are efficiently run, hearing evidence of public offenses by the District Attorney’s office, and issuing criminal indictments when appropriate. Applicants must be willing to spend about 20 hours per week on the job and residents of Kern County for at least one year.
