BAKERSFIELD GETS GREENER WITH GRANT

BAKERSFIELD GETS GREENER WITH GRANT

Bakersfield Mayor Harvey Hall and State Assemblyman Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) joined dignitaries at City Hall South Friday morning to accept a $680,000 grant from the Department of Water Resources to upgrade 22 parks with smart meters.

The meters are expected to save the city $90 Million and 768 Million gallons of water per year by taking readings of temperature and barometric pressure to adjust the output of water.

The grant was funded by California’s controversial Cap and Trade program, which collects pollution fees from industry to fund more environmentally friendly energy sources.
