Arson investigators are calling a fire that displaced 17 people in an apartment building in south Bakersfield suspicious, possibly caused by someone in a downstairs unit.

The fire started at 1:30a.m. on Coventry Drive just east of Highway 99 on the patio of a downstairs apartment and was contained within 15 minutes. No one was injured.

KGET TV reports the damage is estimated at around $200,000.
