Bakersfield Police say a man who fled town after hitting and then strangling his partner is now behind bars.

Joseph Raddatz is accused of attacking and then trying to choke the victim into unconsciousness Saturday at a residence on Jewetta Avenue, just south of Hageman Road. He then fled to Ojai, where he was captured.

Raddatz faces charges of spousal abuse and attempted murder. His bail has been set at $500,000.
