FORMER OILDALE TEACHER SENTENCED

Former Oildale teacher Vanessa Hooker will serve up to a year in jail in a plea deal for committing sex acts with underage male students.

Deputy District Attorney John Allen agrees with Wednesday’s decision because he says a male teacher would have gotten an equal sentence. Defense attorney Clayton Campbell thinks the judgement is fair because she has no criminal history and admitted her guilt early.

In addition, Hooker got three years probation once released, must register as a sex offender, and submit to random searches of her car and cell phone. She’s also ordered to stay away from her former students at Beardsley Junior High.
