Kern County Schools will be hosting information sessions once a month to try and fill over 500 teaching jobs in the 2016 school year.

Tania Schalburg-Dykes of the Superintendent’s office tells KUZZ News retiring baby boomers, increasing student enrollment, and a lack of graduates from teaching colleges are the main reasons for the multi-district shortage.

Districts are considering all people including new grads and those making a career change. The first meeting is Wednesday evening at the Superintendent’s office in central Bakersfield.
