McFarland police are searching for the person who shot and killed a man whose body was found in an alley.

An officer made that discovery near San Lucas and B streets during a routine patrol just after 7:00 Monday morning, and Sergeant Jerrod Place says there is not much evidence at the crime scene.

Neighbors reported hearing gun shots around midnight near the scene of the crime but officers did not find anything when called. Police are also investigating whether the death is connected to reports of gunshots heard the day before three blocks away.
