LIBRARY TAX HEADS TO BALLOT

The Board of Supervisors has approved putting a library tax on the June 7th ballot, on a 3-2 vote. Months of study, polling and testimony found people wanted the libraries to remain public.

Supervisor Zack Scrivner voted against it because he did not think the tax could win the two-thirds majority needed to pass. David Couch voted no because he was worried they would soon be talking about taxes to finance the new jail and the fire department if the fiscal crisis gets worse.
