BAKO CYBERBULLYING EVENT HELPS PARENTS FIGHT HARASSMENT

An informational session on cyberbullying is giving parents and teachers the tools to stop the growing problem.

Rachel Rivera with the Bakersfield Police Department said during Thursday’s event cyberbullying is an underreported crime, and the kids she speaks with do not realize the negative effects online harassment has in the real world. Attendee Emmanuel Fernandez says the young people he mentors face this issue everyday, and parents need to do their part.

The presentation focused on teaching kids how to report threats, and encouraged parents to cut off kids’ social media if they suspect cyberbullying.
