POLICE TALKING TO HIGHWAY 99 JUMPER

It took about half an hour to clear an incident where a teenage girl climbed onto the Ming Avenue overpass to Hwy 99 in Bakersfield and threatened to jump.

Officers and the highway patrol came out to help talk her down Monday morning shortly after 10:30. The fire department used a ladder truck to reach her. Traffic was redirected for about half an hour to keep both the girl and drivers safe.

The girl is unharmed but police took her away in a patrol car for evaluation after she came down.
