SUPERVISORS APPROVE FUNDS TO COVER MANHUNT COSTS

Supervisors have approved the transfer of more than $1.5 million from the contingencies fund to cover the cost of the two-week manhunt for an armed killer last summer in eastern Kern County.

The board also canceled building and maintenance projects to make up for a similar deficit at the Human Services Department, which Mike Maggard said needed to be resolved by staff. Deferred projects include a basement remodel at the county administrative center and the expansion of the laundry room at the Jamison Children’s Center.
