COUNTY WILL APPEAL POT SHOP RULING

The Kern County Board of Supervisors have voted to appeal a recent ruling striking down their efforts to close up local pot shops.

The 5th District Court of Appeal in Fresno said last week the county abused the political process by going after the shops through zoning laws. Attorney Jamie Hall defended the dispensaries and says the supervisors do not have a leg to stand on because judges have now ruled against them twice.

The county argues after voter-approved pot shop restrictions, called Measure G, were overturned in 2014 all shops became illegal.
