LAWMAKER WANTS WATER TUNNEL VOTE

A state lawmaker wants California voters to decide if Governor Brown’s proposed Twin Tunnels under the San Joaquin Delta can fix California’s water woes. Assemblywoman Susan Eggman of Stockton has written a bill that she says takes the matter out of the hands of politicians and big water contractors. Eggman’s bill was passed by the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee Tuesday. She pointed out to the State Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee that voters rejected Governor Brown’s first attempt at the same goal when they voted down his Peripheral Canal proposal in 1982.
