RELAY RETRY FOR LIFE

High winds blew away the Bakersfield Relay for Life Friday afternoon. Winds gusting to 40 mph started buckling tents and making conditions unsafe at the Kern County Fairgrounds. Event coordinator Brian Reyes said they called it around 5 PM but decided to restart the 25th annual cancer cure fundraiser at 6 AM Saturday. Bakersfield has the largest Relay for Life in the world and had a goal to raise $1 million this year.
