K-9 COP SNIFFS MAJOR METH

A routine traffic stop in McFarland Sunday night resulted in the seizure of more than 22 pounds of methamphetamine. Sergeant Jerrod Place says a car was pulled over suspected of DUI when beer cans were spotted inside. As the suspect – 42-year-old Miguel Rodriguez of Escondido – was being arrested, Otis the K-9 Cop sniffed the spare tire and indicated a hit. A search found 22 and a half pounds of meth with an estimated street value of about $100,000. Sgt. Place says federal drug agents have now joined the investigation to find where the drug came from and where it may have been heading.
