A cockroach infestation has been found at the Valley Plaza food court basement. Kern County Health Department spokeswoman Michelle Corson says it was found Wednesday morning as inspectors were looking into a sewage backup that shut food court the day before. Restaurants that do not use the basement for food storage are being allowed to reopen after they pass inspections. Corson said a health inspector was having lunch Tuesday at the food court when an employee alerted that they had been told not to run faucets or pour anything down drains. That prompted an immediate inspection and the closing of the food court.
