ARGUMENT LEADS TO BOY’S DEATH

A 9-year-old boy died after his mother argued with her boyfriend. The CHP says 38-year-old Tony Ronald Santiago stormed out of a house on Lincoln Avenue in Oildale and a woman and her two young sons went after him. Santiago got into his SUV and sped out backwards from the driveway, then drove into a fire hydrant and a fence. He told officers that he didn’t realize he had struck the boys. Both were taken to Kern Medical where the 9-year-old was declared dead.  13-year-old Gabriel Paz, the brother, was treated for minor injuries. Charges are pending against Santiago.
