CSUB Basketball Head Coach Rod Barnes has signed a 5-year contract. The new deal means Coach Barnes will remain with the program despite inquiries from other universities following a season that saw the Roadrunners go to their first-ever NCAA Division I tournament. The university had previously won basketball national championships in Division II. Barnes told KUZZ News that it was people more than money that made his sign on the dotted line. He said locals were always coming up to him congratulating him on the success of his team. He said his family is happy in Bakersfield. The contract calls for $220,000 a year plus bonuses for grade point averages, graduation rates and conference championships.
