PARENT KILLER SUSPECT CASE DELAYED

The arraignment for Derek Connell was postponed Tuesday. Connell is accused of killing his parents last weekend at their northwest Bakersfield home. The new date for his felony arraignment isl May 11th. Public Defender Paul Cadman told the Kern County Superior Court Judge Michael Bush Tuesday afternoon the suspect has already been tried in the media. He then asked for bail to be set, but the judge refused saying it’s a death penalty case. Connell continues to be held without bail on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Christopher and Kim Higginbotham at their home on Lily Pad Court.
