JURY DECIDES BURNED BODY CASE, AGAIN

A jury found a man accused of stabbing a woman and burning her body not guilty. The body was burned in an east Bakersfield fire pit and the jury Thursday found 32-year-old Alejandro Leon not guilty of first-degree murder and were unable to reach a verdict on second-degree charges. This follows a previous guilty verdict that was thrown out because a 9-1-1 call was played to jurors mentioning Alejandro had just gotten out of prison, which violated the judge’s orders. A new trial date will be set next Tuesday in the death of 31-year-old Evelyn Chuca.
