A Bakersfield couple has been sentenced in the beating death of their three-year-old foster daughter and niece.

Alberto Garcia will serve 15-years-to-life while Carla Torres got 25-years-to-life for killing Serenity Gandara, leaving her body in their home with her four-year-old brother Isaiah, and then fleeing to Mexico.

The couple also got four years each for beating Isaiah, who survived. They are not eligible for reduced sentences and will appeal.
