VALLEY FEVER APPEARS IN COURT

An appeals court says the federal government had a responsibility to warn prisoners about potentially deadly Valley Fever. The case involves two inmates who were not told by the feds about the local virus before transferring them to the Taft Correctional Institution and could be held liable for not doing so. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals today [fri] reinstated lawsuits by two prisoners who did contract Valley Fever while in Taft. Lower courts ruled it was up to the contractor who runs the prison but the appeals judges disagreed.
