Former President Bill Clinton closed out a politically charged United Farm Workers convention in Bakersfield by taking not-so-veiled shots at the presumptive Republican nominee.
Clinton did not mention Donald Trump by name, but his keynote speech contrasted the GOP candidate’s positions with what he says Democrats offer. He also told the audience that Americans should be building bridges, not walls, an obvious jab at Trump’s plan to build a barrier along the Mexican border.
Speakers at Sunday’s event also encouraged the 3,000 attendees to unseat local Republican congressmen Kevin McCarthy and David Valadao.
