Blueberry farm workers in McFarland voted overwhelmingly in favor of joining the United Farm Workers. The union won the vote after farm workers went on strike a week ago. Saturday’s vote, which was conducted by the Agriculture Labor Relations Board, saw 82 percent favor joining the union following a recent cut in the per-pound rate they receive for picking blueberries. The ALRB will now be asked to certify the election and then the UFW could start negotiations for a contract.
