ALTA SIERRA JURY BALKS ON VERDICT

A Kern County man has been acquitted of first-degree murder. However, he will still have to face a judge after the jury deadlocked on a second-degree murder charge. Bobbie Rhynes is accused of shooting co-worker Carl Woolwine at the Alta Sierra Ski resort last year and burying the body, but jury foreperson Raquel Romero says they couldn’t decide who pulled the trigger. The other possible shooter Thomas Ertz pleaded no contest to being an accessory in January, Rhynes’ next court date is in June.
