A former Bakersfield police officer charged with 17 counts of corruption has accepted a plea deal.The deal was filed Thursday in federal court after 43-year-old Damacio Diaz was indicted in November for accepting bribes to provide a drug dealer with information about police investigations. Diaz is set to plead guilty to only three charges in exchange for cooperating with investigators. Diaz is known as one of the the star runners featured in the Disney movie, “McFarland U.S.A.”
