The Bakersfield City Council balked at renewing the contract of their labor negotiator. Councilman Bob Weir proposed not renewing the two-year contract at Wednesday night’s meeting and the council agreed to take another look at a later meeting whether William Avery and Associates are adequately representing the council’s position at the negotiating table. Weir said he has not been happy for several years with the representation.
